Monthly Maker Challenge!

Hey, crafty friends! Now that you have focused on doing some cleaning and organization in your craft spaces, how about a little inspiration for creating and sharing your creations with others?

Have you heard about the new Taylored Expressions Monthly Maker Challenge? We launched this challenge as a way to encourage each other to make and send cards! The challenge will keep you on track each month with opportunities to connect with and encourage other crafters with the same goals. That alone is amazing… but there will also be a chance to win PRIZES!

At the beginning of each month we’ll introduce a new monthly theme (January’s theme is “Birthday”) and you’ll have until the last day of the month to create a card – or a bunch of cards – in keeping with the theme. You can enter up to three cards by posting them anytime during the month on the with the hashtag and .

Friends of our local Studio may enter one card in the challenge by dropping it off at the TE Studio where we’ll display entries on the chalkboard all month long! Don’t forget to include your name and phone number on a post-it note inside your card. Studio card entries can be picked up at the beginning of the next month, or we’ll donate them to a local charity.

Each card you create will earn you one entry in a special drawing that will take place the week following the end of the challenge. Three random winners will be selected from the entries and one random winner will be selected from the TE Studio entries, with each winner receiving a $25 TE gift card. We can’t wait to see what YOU create!

I thought I would do a little perusing through the challenge entries and share a few that caught my eye to inspire you to create!

How cute is this shaker card by Mary Jensen! She used the Presents Cutting Plate die to create the shaker card along with lots of fun and colorful sequins. Her card has a more feminine color theme, but with a few changes of color you can change the card to customize it for who you are giving it to. Shaker cards are always a favorite!

Alcohol inks are definitely a fun trend right now and I love how Jeannie Kampa used them on this birthday card! She used the Diagonal Stripes Cutting Plate die and then inset the alcohol ink painted cardstock into the frame. The splashy, vibrant colors are perfect for a celebration!

This birthday card by Denise Spruill just makes me smile! She used the Happy Hens stamp set and sent one of the chickens up in the air with a few balloons. I love all of her details like the houses in the bottom background and clouds in the sky. You can tell that Denise had a lot of fun creating this cute scene!

Nicole Jensen used the Build a Unicorn die collection to create this birthday card with lots of shimmer and shine. I also love how she created a round card instead of the standard rectangle shape. My 2 teenage girls would be head over heels to receive this card!

I love this birthday card by Kristin Ketelhut with all of the color and pattern on it! The candles peeking out of the window opening on the card are created with the Make a Wish dies and I love the sentiment banners created with the Happy Birthday Banner dies. Birthday images and bright colors are just a wonderful classic!

Thank you to everyone who is contributing to the Taylored Expressions Monthly Maker Challenge and if you haven’t, you still can! You can submit your projects through the end of the month for the January birthday theme and then there will be a whole new theme for February and each month after. The best part about participating? You will have a collection of cards ready to give and send to your loved ones. In the mean time, you can be inspired by all of the projects that are being shared on the .
